AnyBP privacy policy

Version 1 · last updated 20 October 2026 (added “Helping to improve the reader”)

Who we are

AnyBP is provided by Advanced Work Management Ltd., the data controller for the photo reading described below. Contact details for privacy questions will be added here before AnyBP is released publicly.

What AnyBP is for

AnyBP records, organises and displays the readings from your own blood pressure monitor, and any weight or body measurements (height, waist, hips, chest or arms) you type in. It does not measure blood pressure, weight or your body, diagnose any condition or recommend treatment. Talk to your doctor or nurse about your readings.

What stays on your phone

Your readings, weights, body measurements, notes, medications, targets, the names and emails of the people using the app, and any photos waiting to be read are stored only on your phone. We don't receive them and can't see them. Backups are files you choose where to save (for example Files, iCloud or email).

Reading the numbers from a photo

To read the numbers automatically, AnyBP sends only the photograph securely to Anthropic's AI service, after you've agreed. It is used to identify the systolic, diastolic and pulse values. You check the values before anything is saved, and your saved blood pressure history stays on your phone.

What is sentThe photo (shrunk to at most 1000 pixels and, if you chose, straightened and trimmed to the display), its width and height in pixels, and the app's access code. Not your name, email, other readings, notes or medications.
WhyOnly to read the three numbers shown on your monitor.
Who handles itCloudflare (our hosting provider) passes the photo on and returns the result. Our code there doesn't store or log the photo or the numbers read from it. Cloudflare may keep basic technical records, such as your IP address, for security, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Anthropic (Anthropic PBC) runs the AI that reads the photo, on our behalf (as our data processor), in the United States.
How long it's keptAnthropic automatically deletes inputs and outputs from its systems within 30 days, except where it needs to keep them longer to enforce its Usage Policy (up to 2 years if flagged) or where the law requires (Anthropic: how long data is stored, last updated 1 July 2026). Anthropic does not use this data to train its models without permission, and we don't give it (Anthropic: API and data retention).
Legal basisYour explicit consent (UK GDPR article 9(2)(a)), which you give on the consent screen before the first photo is read, and can withdraw at any time.

Helping to improve the reader (optional)

After AnyBP reads a photo, the check screen offers Save and Send next to Save Reading. It is entirely optional: nothing is sent unless you tap it, and you're asked each time. Save Reading works exactly as before.

What is sentA copy of the photo the reader used (shrunk to at most 1500 pixels and re-saved, which removes hidden details such as location, time and phone model), the numbers AnyBP read and how sure it was, the numbers you saved, the version of the app and of its reader, and the date (not the time). Not your name, email, notes, other readings, medications, or anything that identifies you or your phone.
WhyOnly to find out why AnyBP misread the photo and to train a better reader, so it reads displays like yours correctly in a future update.
Who handles itCloudflare (our hosting provider) stores the photo and numbers for us. They are looked at by the AnyBP team and used to train AnyBP's own reader. They are not sent to Anthropic or anyone else.
How long it's keptUp to 12 months, or less once it has been reviewed and is no longer needed. A photo used to train the reader can remain part of that reader's training data.
Deleting a sampleBecause nothing identifies who sent a sample, tell us the date and the numbers you saved, and we'll find and delete it.
Legal basisYour explicit consent (UK GDPR article 9(2)(a)), given by tapping Save and Send for that reading.

Changes

If we change what is sent or who handles it, the version above changes and AnyBP asks for your agreement again before reading another photo.
